Geek Girl Online Book Tour: Review of Geek Girl by Cindy C. Bennet

                                 Overview
Jen's life of rebelling and sneaking out is growing stale. In an effort to combat her boredom, Jen makes a bet to turn Trevor, a nice little geek into a "bad boy". She is immediately pulled into Trevor's world of sci-fi movies, chastity work, and even--ugh--bowling. Unexpectedly Jen discovers that hanging out with Trevor isn't so bad at all. But when Trevor finds out about the wager, all  bets are off.

         Book Quotes: Pg. 173-174

" I'm glad you came into my life, Jen. I still don't why you did, but I don't care. I'm just glad you did, glad you turned my world upside down, which is really right side up."
I swallow the lump of guilt in my throat. Someday, I think, someday I'll tell him. Just not right now.
" I am too, Trev. Who knew you would be The One," I smile, which I guess makes me your Trinity."
" My Amidala."
" Your Zira."
"My Sylvia."
" Your..." I scour my brain trying to remember some other great sci-fi love interest.
"My what?" he laughs.
"Ha! I'm your Saphira," I settle back smugly, only for Trevor to start laughing.
" What " I demand.
" Saphira is a dragon."
" I know, but Eragon needed her and she needed him."

Jen is a troubled teen girl in high school. From a young age she's had to grow up fast. That has has made her a bit bitter and destroyed any gentler feelings she has for people. Her only friends are a few goth type kids. They are not really friends if you'd really like to call them that. Without much thought she makes a bet to them on getting a cool geek type boy in her school to be bad. By this she means to give him bad influence. Jen relentlessly pursues the poor kid. You should see poor Trevor or as Jen likes to call him, Trev.

Unexpected LoveBeing confused is one of his reactions. Smitten is the big one. As Jen and Trevor spend more time she realizes that he is a pretty cool person. He's very understanding and underneath his geeky appearance he is pretty good-looking too. Trying to keep her bet then proves really hard to do. It doesn't help either that her foster parents have decided to adopt her into the family. While being a whole new change of Jen's life it will also bring her face to face with a mother that left her behind into the foster system a long time ago. Now the only person who seems to care is Trevor her pet project. He's the only one who can comfort her and she can't help but love that.

Jen is such a hilarious girl. She loves to speak her mind but never once while I read did I see a mention of swear words. She does though come off a bit strongly but this has more to do with her passionate nature. Trevor is hard to describe. He's a scifi geek who loves to talk about movies concerning science fiction. The best part though is that he's just really, in fact handsome but chooses his geeky nature. Throughout the story, it becomes really easy to fall in love with Trevor. We also encounter numerous characters that are part of Jen's or Trevor's life which leave us very happy by their presence.

This is such a bubbly romantic read. On most occasions, there isn't a moment that wont capture your entire attention. Even if you have read various romantic books, you'll want to read Geek Girl. The romance between a geek and a goth type isn't the only thing that will stand out. There is more. It will slowly build this warm thump, thump, in your heart. Now that's what I call real emotion created from reading a book.
                   Overall: Amazing read!
Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Family Issues

Cassandra - I can't thank you enough for doing the review on Geek Girl, and even more so for writing such a great review! You made me want to get the book and read it myself (lol).

And I admit, reading your Peeta and Katniss quotes on your sidebar had me sighing. Now I want to go read that series that I love so much again. :o)
