Seers Online Book Tour: Author Interview | Giveaway with Heather Frost author of "Seers"

Heather Frost's Bio

Heather Frost was born in Sandy, Utah, a few days before Halloween in 1989. She lived in Salt Lake City until she was about six, and then moved North and settled into the place she still calls home. The second child of ten, and absolutely loves being the big sister.
Heather can't remember a time when she didn't enjoy reading, and she did a lot of it. She's also dabbled in writing when she was young, though nothing serious until she entered the teenage years. Becoming an author is a dream come true!

Author Interview for: Book & Movie Dimension a Blog

1. Glad to have a chance at interviewing you, Heather, for the Seers Book Tour. Hope you luck on the tour!

How would you introduce Seers to readers out there?

Seers is about a girl who’s lost her parents. It’s a story about continuing to live, even after you’ve lost someone you love.
Kate Bennett is just starting her senior year of high school. She has an unbelievably wonderful boyfriend whose only flaw is that he can’t seem to understand the changes her heart has undergone after losing her parents in a car accident; the same accident that Kate managed to walk away from, but with a scary new ability—she can now see auras. Her grandparents have moved into the house as caretakers, both for Kate and her two younger sisters. Kate’s afraid of her “sight”, but has only confided in her best friend, Lee.
In the beginning, Kate’s running away from change. She’s clinging onto everything that represents her old life, afraid to face her new reality. But soon everything’s going to change. Kate’s about to come face to face with both Guardians and Demons, two separate groups of warring immortals. Both sides want her help—only one asking nicely.

2. How long did it take you to publish Seers?

I finished writing Seers in August 2010, and it was accepted in November 2010. So relatively quickly!

3. In the characters of Seers: Why do you think Kate takes too long to tell Patrick about how she feels about him?

Especially since on many occasions felt that her stringing Aaron along got frustrating when he wasn't as supportive of her as she felt sad over her parent's death. You'd think she realize things would never be the same between them before the accident.

I think Kate delays admitting her feelings to herself—and Patrick and Aaron—for so long because she’s afraid to admit that she’s changed since the accident. Of course she knows she has—she’s seeing auras, her parents are gone—but because of that she’s really trying to keep things as normal as possible. Letting go of Aaron means embracing her new life, and she’s obviously having a hard time doing that. Did her behavior drive me crazy? Oh yeah!

4. Heather can you tell us a little of the idea of Book 2 of Seers if there might be a second?

Book Two, Demons, will be coming out this September. The plot definitely gets more twisted in the sequel, and Kate’s going to be facing many more challenges and changes—as will Patrick. The Demon Lord is determined to get Kate, no matter the cost. Things are going to turn deadly.

5. On you as an Author: What is something debut writers find surprising or in your case, you, found surprising?

Probably the most surprising for me was the amount of time that goes into marketing a book. Brainstorming ideas, writing out the manuscript, editing, submitting…Of course, there’s nothing cooler than seeing your name on your book cover, so in the end it’s all worth it.

6. On you as a regular person: What are your favorite hobbies and or pastimes?

I love reading and writing, obviously. : ) I also love watching movies, playing my flute, and hanging out with my friends and families.

7. Is there something in particular you would like to mention on the blog before we close?

Thanks so much for this great interview!

Seers sounds like a very unique read, with interesting characters who have to survive and grow - I'd love to read it!

It's great that there's a sequel coming out, because when you get to know characters well you want to keep going on adventures with them.

Thanks so much!
