October 15 Review

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

Recommended: Somewhat.

The reason wanted to participate in Alyssa's Online Book Tour for Flight was since had a good experience with her past books so expected Flight to be something ridiculously good.

Color me disappointed. Flight was a read that could have been so good if only some of its characters had been better handled. In this well have to mean that the characters have to be likable and as a reader we want to cheer for them. That actually didn't happen in Flight. Levi the supposed love interest in Flight was a big pushy arrogant guy that Allie the female protagonist comes to love.  Allie is trying to relax and discover new things but through the book Levi sort of just keeps pushing her into things he wants her to do. Allie though not liking it at first says yes and comes to think whatever Levi does is spectacular which just is so annoying to a reader since it's obvious Levi is a bit of a nuisance. Allie then comes out feeling very flimsy in personality. Those are a few of the character highlights. Even so, all the characters feel wishy-washy.

Perhaps as mentioned before because believe Alyssa has writing talent should say it's not all bad. Toward the end we discover the supernatural world at the center of Flight which is pretty new. Fully intriguing for Paranormal book lovers.

Flight is a read everyone must decide on if it would be a good fit.
Overall: Good read
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Author Interview
Questions and Answers

1. First question! How would you describe Flight (The Crescent Chronicles #1) to readers?

Flight is a paranormal romance about college students in New Orleans.  Flight follows Allie the summer after she graduates from high school. After meeting the alluring yet frustrating Levi, Allie is pulled into his supernatural society.

2. How did the idea for the Crescent Chronicles come out?

I went to college in New Orleans, and I always said that if I wrote a paranormal romance it would have to be set there. If there really was a supernatural society in the U.S., it would definitely be in New Orleans.

3. How long did writing Flight take from first drafts to the final copy?

I came up with the idea for Flight over a year before it was published, but I didn’t really focus on writing it until this past spring. From sitting down to start on the first draft to final copy took less than six months.

4. Do you have an idea of how long the Crescent Chronicles might be?

The Crescent Chronicles is set up to be a fairly long series, but I’m only planning on the first three books being from Allie’s perspective. After that, the narrative will likely switch to a new character.

5. As a Big Fan! wondering are you working on any writing works right now like say the third book in the Afterglow Trilogy?

Right now I am revising my second Clayton Falls novel (Veer) and writing Focus (Crescent Chronicles, #2). I’ll be moving on to Enduring Light (Afterglow Trilogy, #3) next, and it will be released this Spring!

6.  As the interview closes do you have anything to say to adoring fans out there or new would-be readers?

Thanks for taking the time to read this interview! I hope you decide to take a look at my books, and if you do I hope you enjoy them.
