Shelf Candy (4)

Shelf Candy is Hosted by Five Alarm Book Reviews.
The concept is if other bloggers share their favorite covers of the week. Showcasing some of your favorite covers while giving some much deserved recognition to the illustrators, photographers and designers who are responsible, if you can. If not post about your favorite book cover of that week, newly released or, not, talk about what you like on the cover.
Great way to socialize  with either other bloggers and readers. See new books and blogs as well.

The Featured Shelf Candy This Week!
The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma
Set in Victorian London with characters real and imagined, The Map of Time is a page-turner that boasts a triple play of intertwined plots in which a skeptical H.G. Wells is called upon to investigage purported incidents of time travel and to save lives and literary classics, including Dracula and The Time Machine, from being wiped from existence. What happens if we change history?

The Cover Artist, Behind the Scenes?
Cliff Nielsen has illustrated many book covers in the past and some of them have been very popular. Since 1994, he has graduated from the Art College of Design.

He has done the covers for Cassandra Clare's young adult series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices published by Simon and Schuster. He has done illustration for the Cirque du Freak Series and the cover for the young adult novel Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. I could go on.

Artwork CommentaryThe Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare are wonderful books to look at. Beautiful vibrant hardcover box set is best to admire. Always ... perfect for their magical backgrounds. The Map of Time has as can be seen resemblance to the Mortal Instruments but with a much more sophisticated look to it. Cliff Nielsen still manages to create colorful worlds which really makes you wonder how much creativity he has!

  1. When I first saw the cover, first thing that came to mind was Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Prince cover. Then when I read your post and saw that it was the same guy I was like, "Ah. No wonder!"

    Awesome choice!
