Review of Wake (Wake #1) by Lisa McMann

Overview
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant.

Famous Line from Wake: Your Dreams Are Not Your Own
There are individuals but only a few that can dream and their dreams are not their own. Jennie a teen girl discovers she possess this power. Her dreams invade her life and with an alcoholic mother things are just impossible to handle. Her dreams can be very stupefying, that things for her can never truly be normal. Even through it all. a bad boy named Caleb has a need to help her. If only she can let him in.

Jennie is a really likable character. She can very determined and did enjoy reading about her life while I was reading. The style of the writing is a good-descriptive type which allows readers to get into. For the entire story, we're drawn into the story. This is the first in a series that proves to be immensely entertaining. A definite book to read for science fiction book lovers.
Overall: Amazing read!
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Science Fiction

Contains: Complex Relationships, Mention of Alcoholic Parent Problems
