A Trinity Blood Anime Review
Trinity Blood Episode Count: 24 episodes

With the greatness that was Blood + thought Trinity Blood might be another great anime addition dealing with vampires.

Trinity Blood takes place in a futuristic Victorian-esque world. Vampires exist and humans are aware of this. Instead of the government ruling over certain places in the world it is kings/queens, dukes/duchesses, princes/princesses, and so on. At the very center lies The Vatican who has some political power and is trying to maintain peace between humans and vampires. Mostly by sending out priest-like mercenaries to kill certain evil out-of-control vampires. Abel Nightroad is such a priest. Although Nightrod is a very special vampire nurtured by the Vatican. In Abel's quest to defend The Vatican and uphold its ideals he comes across sister Asther who holds a great secret.

1) Father Abel

Vampire like no other. Also incredibly clumsy and kind-hearted, well, most of the time!

2) Sister Esther

Very kind and fierce

3) Caterina Sforza

A very serious woman who holds great respect for Abel

4) Francesco Di Medici

Brother of Caterina
Doesn't approve of vampires or Caterina's organization "AX" organization.

5) Ion Fortuna

Great example of how vampires and humans can co-exist and be friends. While prideful Ion is a very honorable vampire.

6) Alessandro XIVIII

The young pope. Very frightened about his position of power within The Vatican.

While I assumed Trinity Blood would be a strong anime. There is some truth there. The characters are mature and we see a lot of Gothic undertones. Oh, and The Vatican attire wore by the archdukes and princes are outfits with such remarkable taste. Scenes encountered are very Lovecraftian. Rich and bright.

It has a whole new genuine world which is what anime aims in bringing us the viewers. The animation is beautiful to watch. It's toward the end the storyline that loses focus. It is not really tidily concluded and in many ways should have considering Trinity Blood was a serious anime not a comedic/light one. Trinity Blood had some funny moments yet most of the time it held a dark, mature tone.

Genre: Fantasy

Recommended Level: High

Anime Soundtrack Side-note: The Opening Theme song is "Dress (Bloody Trinity)" by Buck-Tick. Actually have come across Buck-Tick as an Ending Theme song in XXXHolic the anime (the song-"Kagerou"), so really like this Japanese rock band so much! Their music is just beautiful (you have to hear it). Glad this Op was done by them too.

The Ending Theme songs for the 1st half- "Broken Wings" by Tomoko Tane. 2nd hald- "TB No. 45 Revolution" by Tomoko Tane. Both of these Ending Theme Songs did Trinity Blood justice. Broken Wings is a beautiful song.
