Review of The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch #1) by Karen Mahoney

                                  Overview
Freak. That's what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna's own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.

                       About The Iron Witch
Story about a girl who is an alchemist. Her past is hunted by monsters. Try as she might she can't recall how her family was murdered by them. Donna soon must come face to face with the monsters. Slow at times in adventure and action which makes it less appealing. While the sweet romance save it from being a complete bad read. A book about alchemy and a girl's past concerning it doesn't totally make-up for the lack-luster story. Giving all books a chance is always a good idea but this one just didn't have anything too new or gripping.  Paranormal elements make it stand out well but not much was resolved in the end and not just because it's the first in a series. Didn't have too many BAM, interesting moments. Not recommended. If you want to try it, please, consider the e-book version.
