T.V. Casual Talk: The Secret Circle on The CW "Beneath"

Faye uncovers a shocking truth in "Beneath" episode 8 of The Secret Circle

In what was Thursday(November 3, 2011) we see how supposedly strong Cassie's black magic is. For some reason the show's episode was somewhat weaker than its predecessors. What was a highlight rather was the growing development of Cassie Blake and Jake Armstrong's relationship into romantic ground!
So what are you interested in more, Cassie/Jake or more Cassie/Adam seen in this episode (Beneath)?

In Beneath (Season 1, Episode 8)
With Jane seemingly missing in action The Circle except Melissa (since her family is worried about her don't let her decide to go) decide to go looking for her at Henry Chamberlain's (also Faye's grandfather played by Tom Butler ) home. The group soon settle down into what teenagers do best and decide to relax and entertain themselves when they don't find Jane or Henry. While there tensions rise between quite a few. And for some fans of a Cassie Blake/Jake Armstrong pairing there will be a lot to see that's worthwhile in this episode! While Adam and Diana say their good-byes for good. In the episode, Dawn (played by Natasha Henstridge) and Charles (played by Gale Harold) also are up to some very devious plans for The Secret Circle.

                               Official CW Show Overview
Cassie Blake was a happy, normal teenage girl - until her mother Amelia dies in what appears to be a tragic accidental fire. Orphaned and deeply saddened, Cassie moves in with her warm and loving grandmother Jane in the beautiful small town of Chance Harbor, Washington - the town her mother left so many years before - where the residents seem to know more about Cassie than she does about herself. As Cassie gets to know her high school classmates, including sweet-natured Diana and her handsome boyfriend Adam, brooding loner Nick, mean-girl Faye and her sidekick Melissa, strange and frightening things begin to happen. When her new friends explain that they are all descended from powerful witches, and they've been waiting for Cassie to join them and complete a new generation of the Secret Circle, Cassie refuses to believe them - until Adam.

Revelations and Theories

1. Revelation: Cassie kisses Jake.
Theory: Almost anyone I'm sure could tell that those two like each other. Or at least have a connection. You can definitely expect some struggle between Adam and Jake in future episodes for Cassie.

2. Revelation: Jake testing Cassie's powers by doing magic together.
Theory: Jake, no, he's definitely up to his witch hunter ways.

3. Revelation: Adam cares about Cassie even when he's trying to win back Diana Meade.
Theory: Diana points the finger to Adam's obvious hurt of Cassie somehow being attracted to Jake. So much that he couldn't bare to see Cassie and Jake kiss.Leaving us wondering even more about the genius idea of "Its written in the stars".

4. Revelation: Dawn Chamberlain and Charles Meade are still up to their power hungry schemes.
Theory: Charles talking to Jane seemingly saying he never liked her for her smugness but wouldn't think to hurt her permanently. Charles decided to use magic to put off suspicion of Dawn and himself without killing her. Proving since the Nick incident he's felt some guilt.

What should this spell for Jane in episodes to come? Not good directions surely.

Greatest Performances
Jake (Chris Zylka) & Cassie (Britt Robertson):
The moment many Cassie/Jake fans (including myself anticipated. Keep in mind I love the Cassie/ Adam pairing equally as much) waited for came. Cassie and Jake kiss.

Was well rendered which in the episode the cameras could be seen making it suspenseful by making it seem The Circle gathered was holding their breath.  Until the moment of their kiss as if  in slow motion.

Adam (Thomas Dekker):
Adam could be seen to become displeased while Cassie and Jake kissed.  The strain written all over his face was really saddening to actually watch (Many Cassie/Adam fans      may have found this just as displeasing as Adam, no?).

Charles (Gale Harold):
Being truthful in describing  Jane's smug and self-righteous personality to her while she was unconscious was a very interesting moment in the episode. He said it in this manner: Nothing personal even though your not my favorite person have to do something against your will. How very realistic and fascinating moment. The Secret Circle can never let you down.
