The Accidental Genie by Dakota Cassidy a Review

(Blurb From Goodreads)
She’s all bottled up.

Jeannie Carlyle is a caterer extraordinaire, more than ready to handle any challenge thrown at her. But when her client asks her to open up a rare bottle of gin for a party, Jeannie is shocked when a guy in poofy pants pops out and she gets sucked inside. Trapped in the bottle, Jeannie does the only thing she can think of and uses her cell phone to search the term “paranormal” and finds the number for OOPS—Out in the Open Paranormal Support.

Until he sets her free.

Werewolf Sloan Flaherty isn’t keen on dealing with distraught women, especially since his sister-in-law Marty basically forced him to man the OOPS phones. But when Jeannie calls in a panic, Sloan is the only one available to find Jeannie’s bottle. After giving it a good rub, Jeannie emerges dressed like a character from Arabian Nights and starts calling Sloan “Master.” Now, they need to figure out how to break their unwanted bond, before the wishes Jeannie can’t stop granting
get them into more trouble than even the OOPS girls can handle…

I picked up The Accidental Genie by Dakota Cassidy not expecting too much. Some laughs, a little entertainment and a light read.
Well, there were many laughs, I was enthralled almost the entire time and although I read quickly, there was a lot of substance to the story.
Ms. Cassidy certainly doesn’t pull her punches! The story begins with a bang and keeps up the action all the way through.
If you’re familiar with the authors work then you’ll recognise some reoccurring characters. If you’re not, then it doesn’t matter, as the characters are so developed you don’t need to know their precise story.
Jeannie is a wonderful heroin who keeps her secrets close to her chest, and when she delivers you’re blown away. She’s smart, funny and likeable. She’s real, has insecurities and keeps a level head in dangerous situations.
Her romance is fun to watch, as each of the characters’ develop and change as they learn more about themselves and each other.
I warn you though; this book is an emotional rollercoaster.  It’s laugh out loud funny quickly followed by heartbreaking, before moving right along into romantic.
I really enjoyed this book, and I’d recommend it if you enjoy funny yet deep books. 3 ½ out of 5
