I swear we are living in very exciting times with the advances of AI and more.
Beyond that what is getting me really excited is book trends happening right now and for books in 2026 those are as follows:
1. sprayed edges (including gorgeous, decorative endpapers and gold filigree hardcover cases)
I am utterly in love with this trend in books! They are beautiful! I had first started to notice them on social media and some book blogs that I frequent but there has definitely been an uptick in them. Cassandra Clare, in fact, is about to release the last in her Shadowhunters universe, The Wicked Powers trilogy, The Last Faerie King being the first book in the trilogy and though she mentioned the book will have spray edges, beautiful decorative endpapers, and gold filigree hardcover casing it is technically a trade hardcover. Meaning this isn't even a Collector's Deluxe Limited Edition which if you are plugged into the book market like I am has become a thing too but, no, this is a regular trade hardcover but comes with spray edges and details usually reserved for Collector's Deluxe Limited Edition book releases.
2. Celebrity memoirs/autobiographies
I am sure some of you might have already seen this trend but we keep getting more and more celebrity memoirs/autobiographies which I am definitely eating up!
I think one of the first, real major signs of this trend was Jennette McCurdy, star of ICarly, with I'm Glad My Mom Died but since then there have been more and more.
